Personality of the week – Dr. Olubukola Olatosi
Dr. Olubukola Olatosi is an Associate Professor of Paediatric Dentistry. She is currently a PhD Candidate at the University of Manitoba. She has published over 40 scientific papers and has received several awards for her contributions to improving the oral health of children. Her current research is on improving the oral health of Indigenous children in Manitoba by using the recently developed novel Canadian Caries Risk Assessment tool. She received the prestigious People’s Choice Award during the University of Manitoba 3 MT Competition.

Unemployed Youth Africa: 6 months training workshop on writing Business grants and Business negotiation soft skills acquisition.
Unemployed Youth Africa Inc. is seeking a youth who is interested in the above Non- governmental organization( NGO) hosting a six (6) months training workshop on writing Business grants and Business negotiation soft skills acquisition.
The program is held every Saturday, 9 am- 12 pm at the ACOMI Resource center on 301 Nassau Avenue. This training is free of charge and there is another valued incentive added to it, which is free website development for all the participants. Seasoned professionals are lectures during these Training sessions.

African Communities of Manitoba Inc. (ACOMI) is organising Racism and Discrimination Workshop. The dates again are as follows:

IRCC announces expansion of Canada’s Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot (EMPP)
This summer, Canada’s Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot (EMPP) is expanding! We’ll be launching a new EMPP immigration pathway to bring skilled refugees and other qualified displaced people from abroad to fill in-demand jobs.
The benefits of Canada’s Economic Mobility Pathways
Pilot include:
- helping employers find new talent and fill labour market needs
- supporting economic growth
- providing skilled refugees and other qualified displaced people and their families with a safe and permanent home

MANITOBA GOVERNMENT TO INCREASE MINIMUM WAGE TWICE IN 2023
This October, Manitoba minimum wage earners will be making $3.35 per hour more than they were in September 2022 following iterative increases that position Manitoba as one of the top minimum wage provinces in Canada. The increases started with a $1.55 increase to $13.50 on Oct. 1, 2022, to be followed by a 65 cent increase to $14.15 on April 1 and now a further $1.15 annual increase on Oct. 1 to $15.30. These increases project Manitoba to be top three in provincial minimum wages. Details are available here

Our popular Anti-Racism Art Contest is back. This is an opportunity for children and youth to be creative and share their knowledge and feelings about how to be inclusive and create welcoming spaces for their peers.
It is open to anyone in Kindergarten to Grade 12. The selected artwork will appear on the cover of the Priceless Fun brochure. Make sure to review the rules before entering. The deadline to submit artwork is April 14, 2023, so spring break is a great opportunity to get your child’s entry ready.

The Uncertified Home Care Attendant training program offered by the WRHA is an enterprising opportunity to equip a whole new generation of health care workers.
