NAMI Election Results Are In!

Over the course of a week, from November 27 to December 3, 2025, 49 people out of the 62 registered dues-paying members of NAMI elected the NAMI Executive team for the 2025-2027 term. The election was conducted online with Election Runner, a secure online voting system. This allowed for ease with voting and the incredible 79% voter turnout rate. To have a say in the next elections, do pay your dues. 

We want to say a big thank you to the electoral committee for the hard work they put in to ensure that we had a successful and smooth electoral process. The next 2 years of NAMI look to be in great hands. 

Nigeria Muslim Community in Manitoba Opens its First Mosque

The Nigerian Muslim Community in Winnipeg has celebrated a huge win with the creation of a mosque that caters to the needs of this specific community. One of the oldest members of this community, Titi Tijani, described the creation of the mosque as “a dream come true”. 

The development of the mosque was only made possible by the $1.5 million raised by the members of this community.

There are plans to “invite and welcome community members of all faiths and denominations, and also offer community programming, education and resources for people to learn about Islam

Winnipeg Naija Market Christmas Bazaar

While we might be far away from the homeland of Detty December, it does not mean we cannot bring Detty December to Manitoba. With the Christmas Bazaar hosted by Naija Market Day, you are guaranteed to have a taste of home during this holiday season. The Bazaar will run for two days from Saturday, the 20th to Sunday the 21st. On both dates the event will start by 11AM and end by 7 PM. There are fun events planned, including a special appearance. Come have fun and enjoy the cheer of the season. 

Gemini Medical Clinic Accepting New Patients

Gemini Medical Clinic, located at 735 Pembina Hwy, Winnipeg, MB R3M 2L8, is now accepting new patients. The clinic has two new Nigerian doctors. Patients looking to book an appointment can do so using this link or can call the clinic at 204-774-7196.

Gemini’s hours are 8:30 AM- 5 PM Monday-Friday and 9 AM- 3 PM on Saturday. 

Afro-Caribbean Christmas Dinner

The Afro-Caribbean annual Christmas dinner for seniors will be held on the 14th of December. The dinner will take place between 2 PM and 5 PM. This will be a great opportunity for the elderly in our community to commune with other seniors in the Afro-Caribbean community. 

The event will feature live entertainment as well as delicious dining. This dinner will be taking place at 259 Watt St. Winnipeg MB. For more information on the event, please reach out via:

Maple Heart of Kindness GiveAway Drive

STO Global Mission has created a Giveaway drive for this season. The details for the event are as follows:

Time: 12:00 PM (Noon)
Venue: 1105-A Waverley Street

Join them as they spread love, warmth, and good Christmas cheer . There are a variety of items including: Winter Clothing and shoes, children’s clothing and toys, as well as food items. This is  a great opportunity to inform anyone who you know might benefit from this

Zoo Lights at Assiniboine Park

Freezing temperatures, snowstorms, slippery roads and Zoo Lights at Assiniobine park are quintessential Winnipeg winter activities. At least the Zoo Lights are fun. This year, the attraction has been running since the 21st of November and will be up till the 1st of January. This makes for a great activity for the entire family and will help distract from the long days(actually long nights) of winter. Visit this link for more information on the zoo lights.
